Spring Morning

There are a species of small birds discovered by Darwin, that suck blood.

I painted this thinking of both those, and the birds (shrikes, I think) that skewer their mousey prey on thorns.
The plant in this is of course a pussy willow, another plant familiar to me from my childhood.
The original has sold, it is 11×13″. This is watercolor on hotpress.
